Teen Camp 2014

Teen Camp 2014 received much enthusiasm from both teenagers and their parents as it focused on having an overview of the future as well as preparing teenagers for future professions. Reverend Willy suggested "Flashing into the Future" as the theme for this year's camp. Ms Marina Chan and Ms Linayanti had given much help in taking care of the teens during the camp at Bintan Sayang Resort. Yohanes had spent much time and effort in producing the handbook for the camp. Sisilia had prepared the menus for the day with much headache :) and received help from Seanne. Mr. Satrio's paprika chicken and Ms Ale's brownies were amazingly delicious. Ms. Mettawaty had provided so much help in booking the resorts, meals as well as transportation. Ellen and Seanne commenced the Camp with their happy, smiley and funny style of leading fellowship. Zowy's smiley, encouraging and serene personality sparked the atmosphere of the camp. Ina's wonderful voice filled the room with awe and splendor. Howard and Fernando's comical character added much laughter and joy during the camp. Amelia was a very responsible treasurer so basically "no Amelia, no camp" :) Hendry's creativity, helpfulness and "bodyguard-ness" served the group well. Ms. Linayanti, Kaila, Verdian and Willy provided a brief sharing on their studies and professions which helped broaden our perspectives. Well, what a long name list if I have to mention everyone in this writing!

One interesting yet so-true response is when the boys played soccer "bola kaki" without wearing shoes (barefoot). When asked why, they said, "Kan namanya bola kaki bukan bola sepatu". Good point! Besides learning, sharing, games, the teens also swam, canoed, cycled etc. Some of them also enjoyed watching romantic shooting stars..... What an experiencing! Some enjoyed walking by the sea whereas I enjoyed the sunset and the sunrise as well as birds that I have never seen before. Interestingly, Willy's group became the earliest sleeping team during the second day of the camp. Some members sacrificed themselves by sleeping on small sofa such as Zowy whilst others slept outside such as Joel Hamenda. What a sacrifice! Amelia also tried to sleep outside but Hana called her in. Hana is a quiet and very caring person. She is a very good friend to be.

I do hope they had a wonderful learning experience. May the Camp inspire them to prepare themselves for the future. May they live according to God's calling within His Kingdom! All the best for you all!
